I was having a little
debate with myself when typing the title of this post as it is only half of
what it seems. Yes it is backstage at the Spring/Summer 2013 collections across
the four beautiful Fashion capitals; New York, London, Milan and Paris. However
like the title suggests, it gives a sense I was there; overlooking the
backstage madness of Spring/Summer shows and I wish, I wish, I wish I was! At
the end of the Fashion Week game, I always make it a task to go looking for the
candid shots taken backstage or on the runway. You might be thinking; but aren’t
they backstage photos that go hand-in-hand with the runway shots on Vogue and
Style.com? Yes they are! But even these photographs feel stiff and posed. The
ones that reflect the fast paced and in the moment nature tell much more of a
story. They tell a story and provide raw emotions that programme you to feel the
same way. The excitement of fashion week captured in a single photograph; what
it is really like behind the scenes of the ever so fast moving industry. As
when you stop to think about it, one more season and that’s us in Spring/Summer
2014 and the year 2013 hasn’t even started! And that’s what I love about these
candid shots of the backstage and on the runway drama; they are undoubtedly beautiful
and almost romantic in a way. They capture, what is supposed to be a fast paced
movement but reveal a shot that is slowed down in the most candid way possible
so we can really appreciate the beauty of fashion week with each season so they
