It is well known on
my blog that I fully backed the decision for Raf Simons to leave Jil Sander and
take charge of the almighty fashion label, Christian Dior. And for his first
Pre-Fall collection for the 2013/14 season, Simons did not fail. What is most interesting
about this collection, it is notifies a change in the House of Dior. It is in
fact no longer Christian Dior by Raf Simons shown previously in Haute Couture
Fall/Winter 2012/13 and Spring/Summer 2013 but actually Raf Simons at Christian
Dior. Simons put a clear stamp on the fashion industry with this latest
collection and demonstrated what it really is all about. Of course, this was
nothing but pure genius and full of innovation. Christian Dior is widely known
for beautiful garments for grand evening events to pretty cocktail dresses and
although this style still screamed out of Simons Pre-Fall collection as the classic
Dior style and silhouette remained; this collection was different. This
collection demonstrated that it can be easily taken of the rail as soon as you
waltz into Christian Dior and walk out in daylight hours in a brand new Dior
relaxed version of the Bar jacket. Simons stressed he no longer wanted Dior to
be only seen in the evening night but identifiable as soon as a woman stepped
out onto the street, hopping out of a taxi as she walked to work. Simons’
Pre-Fall 2013/14 collection was here to cater for the modern woman and being
the Belgian pragmatist he is, Raf Simons stayed true to his heart. Which he proved
it was Raf Simons AT Christian Dior. Although with this Pre-Fall collection it
was very much identifiable as Dior, Simons stapled his aesthetic to these
stunning pieces. There were a certain ease surrounding the collection, hidden
in the slouchiness of trousers with relaxed fitted jackets yet still with
sharper lines or a raised satin ball skirt with a pretty neat bow paired with a
cashmere plain white t-shirt. And not forgetting the slight quirkiness that
Simons likes to bring to the table filtered through the garments. It can only
be described as refreshing. After the slightly disappointing Spring/Summer 2013
collection, Raf Simons bounces back with a stunning collection for Pre-Fall 2013/14. See the full collection
